BROOKER SWEEPS 281 SPEEDWAY

With 24 cars in the pits, Southlake, Texas drive= r Dick Brooker overtook last weeks winner and current points leader Dominick Palan= za with 5 laps to go and swept the field to his 2^nd victory of the season with The Lonestar Dwarf Car Club sponsored by Auto Rescue.

Palanza started 10^th and quickly jump= ed out into the lead following a lap 2 crash eliminating the cars of Jim Lewis II, Benny Tufts and Dan Noble. Coming out of turn 2 Tufts made a move for the l= ead under Lewis and spun collecting Lewis, 3^rd running Noble, Wayne Hearne and Kenton Kinney. Lewis’ No 86 car came to a stop atop the No= 3D of Tufts with Noble stopped with heavy damage to the front end of his No 23. Hearne and Kinney continue on after restarting at the rear of the field. Kinney’s beautiful No 99 had front end damage and was never a factor = and finished 8^th. With= the field racing under green 14^th place starter Jason Bellows driving his W.R. Starkey Mortgage sponsored No 89 Pro came charging up through the field to challenge Palanza for the top spot. On lap 9, with Bellows stalking Palanza, Brooker moved into 3^rd and 3 laps later moved past Bell= ows and was challenging for the lead when a quick yellow on lap 14 for a multi = car spin in turn 2 involving the No 58 of Buddy Tufts, Max Miller in his US Arm= ed Forces No 28, Lincoln Tech No 02 of Mike Smith and the Twister Chassis No 80 driven by Scott Lindquist. The yellow bunched the field back up and as the field went back to green Brooker quickly overtook Palanza and set his sight= s on the checkered flag.

Hearne driving the Chasco Construction No 29 Pro chased Brooker to the checkered but came up a few car lengths short in a outstanding drive after restarting 18^th following his 2^{nd
lap mishap. Palanza held on for 3^rd with Bellows coming home in =
4^th
and JW Woodson rounding out the top 5. 6^th place went to Bert Bo=
oth
in his Widow Maker II No 90 Pro with Miller coming back to finish 7^{th<=

after restarting at the end of the line following his spin on lap14, with
Kenney, Jim Lewis III and Lindquist finishing the top 10. 11^th p=

went to Buddy Tufts; Smith in 12th, pole sitter Bill Pickett finished in 13=
th,
Rookie drivers Scotty Atkins and Terry Boyer taking 14^th and 15<=

Boyer making only his 2^nd start ever ran as high as 6^{th with
5 laps to go before spinning and losing 9 spots. 16^th through 20=
